V/A - "Hip Hop... Typ" (compilation, 2000)

About once a year I get it into my head that I like hip hop, I usually refer to these as "weak moments".

There's some hip hop I absolutely love (Lyrics Born, Mos Def, The Roots and a few others), but in general I'm way too white and middleclass to enjoy it, or even understand it. At least the gangsta stuff. And the blingy type they play on MTV.

The weak moment I had in 2000 led to me burning this compilation. Not knowing anything about hip hop, this consists of whatever rap songs were hot at the moment, some older stuff I thought you were supposed to like, and random stuff I found on Napster that day.

Some of these tracks are really good, like Wu-Tang, The Latin Kings (Botkyrka Stylee owns!), Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and the Timbuktu/Looptrack cuts. But Feven? Limp Bizkit? What the hell was I thinking? Hella weak.

And Scare Dem Crew? They're good, but hardly hip hop.

Anyhow, here it is for the whole world to see... er, hear. I made a second volume two years later. I might post that too (it's much better).
