Silver&Crimson Vol. 13

Dear Friend,

Thank you very much for your reply to my business proposal. I have to say that i really appreciate your interest and willingness to assist me realize and as well share the great benefits together with me.

I want to re-assure you that you have made a very wise decision if you have accepted to help me carry out this transaction because we have a lot to profit and many more bigger things to handle together once after this very business. You must understand that here in Africa, as a fast developing continent, many good deals and opportunities do exist, but our major problem has been that of finding reliable and honest partners abroad to collaborate with us. If you prove yourself, you will never regret knowing me as a partner.

Well, I got your contact email address through internet research as I was conducting researches to link-up a reliable foreign partner to help me carry out this transaction. On coming accross you contact, I was touched spiritually and physically to connect you, with great feelings that you might be of great help to me, hence i decided to contact you. I am a very positive believer and my intuitions have never deceived me before, as a result, I have the absolute convinction that you will neither betray nor disappoint me in this transaction. Rather, I am very hopeful that you will give me all the maximum assistance needed to realize this transaction.

To be very honest with you, this business i have introduced to you is very genuine and highly benefitial.Besides, it is 100% risk-free because no trouble or problem is associated with it either in the short-run or in the long-run as i have been working with this bank for many years till now and hence, I know all its hidden secrets very well and have mapped out my good strategies to carry out this transaction without any failure.

Therefore before we proceed, you should please try to call me on my private phone numbers: +226 75 51 63 82 immediately after reading through this mail for us to have a brief talk about this transaction so that I can advise you properly on the best steps we are to follow to achieve maximum success in this transaction. After our brief talk, I will without delay send you the pattern of application form which you should fill and re-send to the bank here for the transaction to begin as this transaction needs very urgent and extra-important attention.

N.B: I want you to understand that there is no difficult process or formalities involved in this business so you are totally qualified to apply as the beneficiary of the fund in question, therefore you need not any special knowladge of business here. Again, for confidential and security reasons I will want all your contacts and communications with to be done through phone calls and mails.

Please you have to totally trust in me and in this transaction just as i have trusted you before opening the secret of this business to you because about 99.9% of all genuine transactions all over the world is based on mutual trust. Where we don't have trust in ourselves, it means there is no possible genuine transaction. I will require you to claim as a former business partner of that deceased customer of the bank. You need not to doubt anything about the reality of this transaction because it is an existing one, this truth you will discover as we progress. I hope to receive your call soonest.

Thanks and best regards.
Mr Ibrahim Issa.

Eddie Izzard - "Unrepeatable" (1994)

I love Eddie Izzard, don't we all? Next to Ricky Gervais probably the funniest thing you can see on a stage.

Unrepeatable was his second DVD (or home video in those days) and was recorded at the Albery Theatre in London in 1994. It's a little rough compared to his later stuff like the near flawless Definite Article (1996) and Dress To Kill (1998) and the fully flawless Glorious (1997), but is still funnier than most things going these days. The bits on Star Trek and vampires are particularly inspired.

Here's an excellent audio rip. Enjoy.

Covers Month Leftover: "Bloody Hammer"

This live acoustic cover of Bloody Hammer (originally from Roky Erickson's Evil One album) is a good example of why Nick Oliveri is sorely missed in Queens Of The Stone Age - that dude got some mean pipes. A lot of his time in QOTSA was spent screaming his lungs out, so it's easy forget he can actually sing as well.

QOTSA's version was recorded in Bern, Switzerland in 2002. Who knows, maybe they were inspired by Erickson's own acoustic version?

Larry, get your goddamn hands off my anatomy!

The first person to name the movie from which the quote "Larry, get your goddamn hands off my anatomy!" is taken gets a prize. And don't google it, that's cheating.

Once I decided to make a Theme Mix of songs with body parts in the title, "Asshole", "Warts On My Dick" and "Tits" were the first ones I thought of. I'm not sure what that says about me and I don't want to know.

Re-evaluating remixes - An open letter to David of Mars Needs Guitars

Remember what I said about remixes a few weeks ago? How they're pointless and always worse than the original and basically have no right to exist?

Is it too late to humbly apologise for my ignorance and take it all back?

Q: What does every man need in his life?

A: Monkey Island shoes!

"Fan Makes Monkey Island Chucks Logan Westbrook

If Katamari Dunks didn't float your boat, maybe these custom Converse All-Stars will be more to your liking. The shoes are the creation of Maya Plisetskaya, a Spanish LucasArts fan living in Madrid. The shoes depict two scenes from seminal point-and-click Monkey Island, which brought the world Pirate extraordinaire Guybrush Threepwood.

For gamers of a certain age, like myself, the shoes stir up some pretty fond memories of the halcyon days when LucasArts made something other than Star Wars games.

'You fight like a dairy farmer!'"

Haha! Just too cool to be true. My birthday is August 25th, which should give you plenty of time to get me a pair of these. I'm a size 44/45 (U.S. = 11.5). So get to it, make me the luckiest man in the world.

While you place an order listen to these three songs from the Monkey Island soundtrack (the CD-ROM version of 1992) by Micheal Land, Barney Jones and Andy Newell:

Fire in the hole

Fires start when a flammable and/or a combustible material with an adequate supply of oxygen or another oxidizer is subjected to enough heat and is able to sustain a chain reaction. This is commonly called the fire tetrahedron. Fire cannot exist without all of these elements being in place.

Once ignited, a chain reaction must take place whereby fires can sustain their own heat by the further release of heat energy in the process of combustion and may propagate, provided there is a continuous supply of an oxidizer and fuel.

Fire can be extinguished by removing any one of the elements of the fire tetrahedron. Fire extinguishing by the application of water acts by removing heat from the fuel faster than combustion generates it.
